Two words for you: President Biden!!!!

I think GoLocalWorcester will be the only news organization with this scoop.

If this is true, and Obama just demoted himself, does this mean Scott Brown will now run for president?

Isn't this a conflict of interest?

I wish I wasn't working this Thursday so I could observe this meeting.

Hopefully our appointed Election Commission and the City Council can fix the mess that was 2012's election season in Worcester.  My hope is that the people manning the polls and determining policy will be far more interested in running a fair and open election, rather than a highly partisan mess like we had in our September primary.

While we are on the subject of the primary, how is it that David Lapierre, one of two Republican commissioners on the Election Board, can speak with any clarity or have an unbiased opinion regarding Activate Worcester's shenanigans in September when he is a major donor to the Activate Worcester PAC?
He will vote on the complaints against poll worker Tina Hood, a fellow contributor to Activate Worcester, or will he recuse himself?
Will he reveal their connections to Bonnie Johnson, another member and contributor to Activate Worcester, and one of the people involved in the controversies during the September primary?
Will a reporter for a local news organization ever spell these details out for the public?  Or will they make us do their digging for them?

Yes, that really is a Scamp parked outside of a liquor store on a Saturday night.

Prohibition Is ineffective...

....And leads to more crime, like littering! Ironically, this was on Phil Palmieri's side of Hamilton Street.

Partisan Hacks.

Tina Hood, congratulations. You are a trained poll worker for the City of Worcester, and in testimony before our Election Commission, you stated that you didn't want to appear partisan in behavior.  Perhaps you shouldn't write letters to the Editor of the T&G displaying your partisan bias.

Here we have another fine example of partisan bias taking over our election system in Worcester, all in the name of electing their own party (and complaining incessantly in articles and comments about Democrats having the gall to be partisan.  Yes Robert Nemeth, that means you.  Please retire.  I'm sure there are far better writers who could make a case for conservative causes employed by the T&G.) It's and election.  Discuss the issues and the policies, not the imaginary flaws and conspiracies of the candidates.

The main difference between the partisan hacks on both sides is that the Tea Party/Activate Worcester crowd has decided the only path to victory isn't by running, or even running better, more informed candidates, but by shutting down the vote of people they think will vote for Democrats.

If they actually had proof of voter fraud, it would be out there.  Instead, we get unsubstantiated charges and vigilantism in the name of partisan bias.

Speaking of Activate Worcester's favorite Senator...

Scott Brown's favorite Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia made a public appearance this week.
If we were to govern according to the intent of our Founding Fathers, then women, minorities, and the poor couldn't vote in a race for the People's Seat because of Article I, Section 3:

"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote."

I wonder if Scott Brown realizes this irony.

I also wonder if he knows how to correctly pronounce Justice Sotomayor's last name.

Voter Suppression 101

These reports out of New Mexico seem familiar to trends in Massachusetts elections the past few years.

Partisan training of poll workers and observers to enforce a non-existent Voter ID law? Check.

Harassing Hispanic voters while trying to enforce non-existent English only laws?  Check.

Unfounded accusations of the trained election officials rigging the elections?  Check.

Overstepping their role as observers and interfering with voters?  Check.

Widespread and highly inaccurate purging of the voter rolls?  Check.

Looks like Activate Worcester is merely taking a page from the True the Vote playbook without any actual proof of wrongdoing in Massachusetts.

Despite glowing paeans to the brilliance of Activate Worcester in GoLocalWorcester, the only thing Activate Worcester has been able to accomplish to date is 'poll worker training,' a small amount of fundraising, and robocalls/mailings in an attempt to suppress the vote of "welfare recipients and disenfranchised people" because of the presence of "extreme left candidates" in this year's elections.

Sounds like this group doesn't understand democracy and voting rights, just like the GOP in New Mexico.
